Pregnancy Help
Destiny was almost halfway through her pregnancy when she first saw Another Way Pregnancy Center’s sign and decided to call to find out how they might help her. She was in denial about her pregnancy and had not yet received medical care. She scheduled an ultrasound at AWPC.
Her denial immediately faded as soon as she saw her baby for the first time during an ultrasound scan at AWPC. The smiles and empowering words of the staff and volunteers provided the encouragement she needed to persevere through her unexpected pregnancy.
AWPC quickly became the support Destiny needed as she navigated pregnancy, depression, a rocky marriage, and financial difficulties. She saw no possibility of her marriage recovering, so she began planning to become a single parent. Destiny knew she wanted to do what was best for her baby.
She immersed herself in all of the programs that AWPC has to offer. She valued the education, encouragement, community, and resources she received as she prepared for her baby’s arrival.
When her daughter Anya was born, life began looking up for Destiny. She learned the importance of surrendering her negativity and instead, chose to cast her cares upon God. She felt that she was in a much better place mentally and began surrounding herself with positive people. After a separation from her husband for several months, she decided to come back to live with him.
“There are a lot of moms out there who are struggling and need help. AWPC is a lifeline for many of us.”
Not long after, Destiny learned she was pregnant again. She was shocked but knew she could handle this. She called AWPC, knowing she would receive the same care and support she received the first time. She enrolled in the Earn While You Learn program and says she really valued the guidance her client advocate provided.
Despite her husband’s refusal to join, Destiny chose to begin AWPC’s Couple’s Communication course. She used the communication techniques and began to see positive changes in the way she and her husband handled conflict.
Bible study booklets and a weekly video Bible study group helped her grow in her faith. Despite the difficult circumstances within her family, she says her hopefulness increased.
Destiny has enjoyed monthly Mom’s Groups outings at local parks and spending her baby bucks in AWPC’s baby boutique.
Destiny says AWPC has excellent follow-up with the parents who are a part of the programs. “This is what keeps me connected and shows that they really care about me.”
“There are a lot of moms out there who are struggling and need help,” said Destiny. “AWPC is a lifeline for many of us.”
