Is An Ultrasound Important?
If you’ve found out you’re pregnant and are now considering abortion, you may feel overwhelmed, unsure, or pressured. An ultrasound can provide valuable information, helping you make an informed decision.
Why an Ultrasound Matters
When you come to AWPC, the ultrasound is a no-cost, confidential, medical-quality scan that does more than just confirm pregnancy. An ultrasound can:
Verify that your pregnancy is viable (that it’s developing normally)
Confirm the location of the pregnancy (ruling out ectopic pregnancy)
Establish how far along you are by dating your pregnancy (gestational age), which is essential for understanding your options.
Knowing these details matters — especially when weighing your options.
What to Expect When You Visit
When you schedule your appointment by calling or texting (248) 471-5858, expect a warm, welcoming environment where you’re treated with respect and care.
Your visit usually takes about an hour and may include a pregnancy test, ultrasound and an options counseling session allowing you to see and hear all about your options.
You don’t need insurance or payment of any kind — every service is free and confidential.
You can bring a support person — and even children. If you let them know ahead of time, AWPC can arrange childcare.
A medical staff member will walk you through your scan and explain what the ultrasound shows, helping you understand what you’re seeing on the screen.
How the Ultrasound Helps You Process
Facing an unexpected pregnancy can trigger decision fatigue—that overwhelming sense of being emotionally or mentally drained by being faced with high-stakes choices.
Getting an ultrasound provides real, medical information. That clarity lets you consider your options — abortion, parenting, or adoption — with greater confidence because you're not making decisions in the dark.
You Are Not Alone
It’s okay to feel unsure. You deserve accurate information, compassionate care, and time to make a good decision. AWPC is here to stand with you—no judgment, no obligation, just support.
